Grand Street Recording! My first call when I have to track with an artist and it has to be right from the start. My clients love the feel and every instrument you could ever want is in-house and makes it easy.

-Mazz Swift (violinist with Silk Road, D’Angelo, Kanye West)

Grand Street Recording is my most favorite place to track, mix, and edit just about any kind of music. Their knowledge, attention to detail and professionalism are unmatched. And they work super fast! Probably the best value for your money in NYC. Grand Street Recording is a world class studio. Sounds amazing, feels like home, and the head engineer, Jake, is lightning fast. Highly recommended.

-Ondre Pivec (organist, producer, composer with Gregory Porter, Kennedy Administration, Wu-Tang, Greater Allen Cathedral, D.Y.K.)

Working at Grand Street Recording has always been a total pleasure! Ken Rich really knows his stuff and makes things so comfortable, all you need to think about is playing music. The sounds are always first rate and the rates are affordable. There have been a few sessions I've produced where I needed to get as much bang for my buck, in as short a time as possible - Ken's expertise and the professionalism always exceeded my expectations.  I highly recommend Grand Street Recording to all!

-Jim Campilongo (guitarist with The Little Willies, has performed with Norah Jones, Bright Eyes, Adam Levy)

Grand Street Recording is by far one of my favorite studios to record in New York. They have everything you need to create from the best gear, engineers, and vibes.

-Marcus Machado (guitarist and producer with Jon Batiste, Daniel Caesar, Pete Rock, Robert Glasper)

These guys really know what they're doing. They feature a formidable collection of vintage gear and the tools and expertise to take your project to the next level. When I'm in NYC Grand Street Recording is my first choice in studios. Over the years everything I've recorded there has far surpassed my expectations. Ken and Jake are two of the best recording mixing and mastering engineers in the business. It's obvious they are passionate about their craft.

-Andrew Bailie (guitarist with Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles)

Grand Street is personal and feels like family. They have a great selection of mics and gear and most of all, a diverse collection of drums! Both Ken and Jake are great musicians, so as engineers, there is an understanding of nuance and capturing the moment while always remaining contemporary. And it’s always a great hang!

- Josh Dion (paris_monster, Jim Campilongo, John Scofield, Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Krantz, Barney)

When I was looking for a studio that would give me that "certain" sound that I was searching for, Grand Street Recording was suggested. Not only did I find the right sound and vibe but the perfect engineer as well...not to mention their vintage gear for days.

-Adam Falcon (guitarist and singer-songwriter)

Grand Street Recording is a warm and comfortable place and the vibe is always great. The engineers get great sounds and the gear and instruments are amazing! I've made several records here and I'd recommend it to anyone.

-Jonah Smith (singer-songwriter has performed with Garth Hudson, Bill Frisell, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Taj Mahal, and Martin Sexton)

Grand Street Recording was my first recording home in NYC and remains one of my favorite places to make music. Ken and Jake are world-class people, not to mention world-class producers and engineers, and they tackle every session, from drum tracking to vocal overdubs to full-band dates to mixing, with professionalism and kindness. The studio itself is a comfortable, inviting space where creativity leads the way since you never have to look too far to find the instrument, microphone, or piece of outboard gear that’ll inspire your best work. Long live Grand Street!

-Zach Jones (drummer for Sting, producer, singer, songwriter)

I've had so many all day, late night, and quick get sh*t done sessions at Grand Street Recording. This is one of few studios where you can be completely yourself and search for the sound you need.

-Big Yuki (songwriter and keyboardist, Tribe Called Quest, J Cole, Kamasi Washington, Lauryn Hill, Antonio Sanchez, Tokyo Olympics)

Every experience I’ve had at Grand Street Recording has felt creative and inspired, which is a testament to Jake and Ken as engineers and people, and to the environment they set up at the studio.  They communicate, listen, and aren’t afraid to make bold choices and they do so with the highest degree of professional skill.  You walk into Grand Street and feel like you’re going to make music, and get to making it quickly. Additionally they have the best drum collection in NYC, the best guitar amp collection in NYC, and my favorite mic collection from the classics to the quirky, all maintained to be in the best working condition.

-Geoff Kraly (bassist, modular synth player, writer, and producer with paris_monster, Benjamin Scheuer, William Shatner, Jacob Sacks’ Saloon Band)

Ken Rich's Grand Street Recording in Williamsburg is excellent. There is  a live room large enough to accommodate a band, a really nice control room where we set up to record scratch vocals, plus a smaller room for isolation. Nice mics, good headphones and amps, great selection of drums.  Ken and his assistant that day were friendly and efficient, and most importantly really adept at getting good sounds quickly. We didn't waste any time with pro tools melt-downs or equipment malfunctions; everything seems to be in great shape and more importantly, they know how to use it. One thing I really dug about the engineering was that Ken is an accomplished musician. I never felt like he was forcing his advice or opinion on us, but if asked, he always had good input. Some engineers try to step in and "produce" unnecessarily but Ken would wait until his opinion was sought. In that regard his etiquette as an engineer was great. When not recording, the control room or office are also great spots to hang out, drink coffee, peruse a selection of music books or order take out from many of the restaurants conveniently located around this Williamsburg location. All in all, Grand Street Recording is a great studio and offers a great experience!

-Bryn Roberts (keyboards with Rosanne Cash, Shawn Colvin)

One of the best studios in the NYC Area! Ken is great to work with because he has experience as a highly skilled engineer with a background in performing. The Hammond B3 is one of the best I've ever recorded on. I highly recommend GSR for any jazz or pop recording!

-Christian Nourijanian (keyboards with Mree, Raye Zaragoza, Justin Jesso, Sarah Solovay)

When we did the basic tracks to a solo record I was working on it was the most stress free enjoyable recording session I've had in a long time. Ken and his staff are quick and don't waste time while maintaining a fine attention to detail.  There's a great selection of pedals, guitars, vintage amps, microphones, percussion, keyboards etc. so that  when you get that spontaneous burst of creativity and if you are in a middle of a mix and say "hey, can we just record something new right now?" they are accommodating and won’t look at you like you have three heads. Music should be kept exhilarating and Ken Rich and Grand Street help accomplish that goal at every turn!

-Christian Gibbs (Lucinda Black Bear, C. Gibbs, Passing Strange)

Grand Street Recording is a cozy home-away-from-home, a top-notch professional recording studio, and surely the best deal in the city. They have an amazing amount of gear and instruments immaculately organized and tucked away, and on these terms alone they blow away any comparably-priced and -sized studio in Brooklyn, especially in the mic selection (U47, U67, U87, a bunch of other condensors, ribbons, and colorful/crazy mics such as an actual telephone). There's also a ton of vintage keyboards, synths, guitars, amps, pedals, a beautiful Steinway upright, a Hammond organ, a vibraphone, and more drums than you can imagine! And having produced 6 or 7 big projects at GSR, I think the best thing about the studio is the way everything is laid out and accessible to encourage creative, on-the-fly producing. It's also worth mentioning that GSR gets really creative when it comes to live tracking, and they can offer more isolation than meets the eye, but working with Ken and Jake is the real attraction. They always get the best sound and tinker til it's right for the song (though of course they let the artist/producer set the vibe and the pace). Ken's musicality is a huge asset, and I can't imagine there's a style of music he can't handle. He's also one of the best mixing engineers you'll ever come across, with an amazing ear for detail, aesthetic flexibility, efficiency, invaluable wisdom and perspective.

-Jared Saltiel (singer-songwriter, producer, composer)

Grand Street Recording was the only studio to score our most recent project - a complicated, multilayered mix of foley/sound design, ambient pads, orchestra composition and Voiceover/ADR. The studio and staff are impeccably organized and interminably patient, but the highlights of working there are most definitely the high level of creativity and rapidity of problem solving. We'll be back with the next play/film without a doubt!

-Alex Lyras (playwright, screenwriter, actor, and producer)

I had a great experience having a song mixed remotely by Ken at Grand St. (It wasn't an easy song either and had at least 25 tracks...) I uploaded the stems via google drive and sent them off to him and he had a mix back to me within a day. Any tweaks I requested he turned around and fixed immediately. Track sounds awesome and it was affordable and easy experience!

-Arthur Vint (drummer and composer)
